Sridevi is considered the first Bollywood star.
She was born to a Tamil father Ayyapan and a Telugu mother Rajeswari in Meenampatti, Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu, India.
At the age of six, She made his debut in a Tamil film, Thunaivan (1969). In the movie, She played the role of a young Lord Muruga.
In 1971, she won the Kerala State Award for Best Child Artist for her performance in “Poompatta” in Malayalam.
Her first leading role as an adult was in Moondru Mudichu (1976), in which she falls into a love triangle between Kamal Hasan and Rajinikanth.
Sridevi’s portrayal of a 16-year-old schoolgirl in the 1977 Tamil film 16 Vayathinile has been highly praised by critics and people.
K. Balachander Varumaiyin Niram Sivappu (1980), another film starring Sridevi and Kamal Hassan, became one of his most famous.
Sridevi’s stardom rose to new heights with the Tamil film, Moondram Pirai (1982). In the film, she played a young woman who, having suffered from amnesia, mentally regressed to a girl’s age. The film was also re-produced in Hindi the following year, titled Sadma.
