Rawlings founded Gas Monkey N’ Grill in Northwest Dallas in 2013.

He opened his second location at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport in 2014.

Originally from Texas, Rawlings’ interest in automobiles developed at a young age. He used to go to car shows with his father and build cars.

He purchase his first car when he was 14 years old. Over the next several years, he graduated from Eastern Hills High School with a high school diploma and served as a police officer, firefighter, and paramedic.

In 1999 he created the printing and advertising company Lincoln Press, which he sold five years later. In 2002 he opened Gas Monkey Garage, an auto shop that builds custom vehicles for customers around the world. “Fast N’ Loud” arrived on Discovery in 2012 and has since become one of the most popular car shows in the world.

Rawlings stars in one more Discovery series, “Garage Rehab.” In 2015, he published his autobiography “Fast N’ Loud: Blood, Sweat and Beers” through William Morrow Publishing House.

In 2018, Rawlings was sued by his own company, Gas Monkey Bar N’ Grill, for defamation and attempting to terminate his contract by “deliberate and misleading” means. The suit sought $6 million in damages and was filed on behalf of the bar and its managing member, Daniel Flaherty, against Rawlings, the producer of “Fast N’ Loud,” and Gas Monkey Holdings. In 2019, Rawlings countersued Gas Monkey Bar N’ Grill for copyright infringement, seeking $1 million in damages.
