She started her career as a child actress and played roles as Young Valsala in Kakkothikkavile Appooppan Thaadikal, Child on the Bus in Yaathrayude Anthyam, and Youngest Daughter in Vembanad.
Kaveri portrayed the character of the Siamantaga Princes in the 1997 Malayalam-language fantasy drama Guru, where she was cast alongside Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, Madhupal, Sitara, Srilakshmi, Nedumudi Venu, and Srinivasan. In addition, the film became the first Malayalam language film to be submitted by India for the Academy Awards in the category “Best Foreign Language Film”.
She played the role of Swathi in the 2002 Telugu romantic drama film Avonu, Valedaru Ishta Badaru! (English: Yes, they both love each other!), in which she starred alongside Ravitja, Prasanna, and Krishna Bhagavan. For her performance, Kaveri won the Nandi Award as well as the SICA Award in the “Best Actress” category in 2002.
Along with D. Ramanaidu and Vizag Prasad, she starred as Pooja Rao in the 2006 Telugu film Hope, which won the National Film Award for “Best Film on Other Social Issues”. The film revolves around the issues of teen suicide and educational pressures among teenagers in South India.
